Governor
of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has honoured Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole
Soyinka, as an Honourary Education Ambassador.
The
governor, who presented the letter of the Honorary Ambassadorial Award to the
literary icon at the Government Housein Yenagoa, said the honour was bestowed
on Soyinka because of his achievements and democratization of knowledge across
the world.
Governor
Dickson said that the newly-established Education Development Trust Fund was
targeted at breaking the long years of under-development and deprivations
suffered by the people and appealed to Soyinka to use his influence to canvass
support for the programme, while assuring prospective donors that any funds realized
would be put to good use.
