Following recent strained relationship
between the Presidency and the National Assembly, President Muhammadu Buhari has
met separately with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Yakubu
Dogara and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The meetings, which was reported to have lasted for about 40 minutes each, also discussed the progress reports on the 2017 budget proposal, Senate’s amendment of the Electoral Act and other national issues.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meetings, Senate President and the Speaker described the meeting as routine consultations with the president.
Meanwhile, Senator Saraki said the relationship between the two arms of government was cordial.
