The People’s Republic of China has donated N60 million to the pet project of Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.
Mrs Buhari’s spokesman, Suleiman Haruna, in a statement yesterday, said the donation to Future Assured was in recognition of efforts towards improving the lives of women and children across Nigeria, especially victims of insurgency in the Northeast. Haruna said the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Dr Hajo Sani, thanked China for the support and goodwill, pledging that the donation would reach its intended beneficiaries.
She highlighted the effort being made by wife of the President to raise funds to support Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria, as well as refugees and other victims of insurgency across West African sub region, especially among countries of the Lake Chad Basin. She said the donation would transcend the borders of Nigeria.
Presenting the donation, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy, Mr Lin Jin, said Future Assured had promoted the health and well-being of women, children and the vulnerable.
