Delta state government provides N2.1 million assistance to natural disaster victims





    Eight victims of the May 30, 2017 Asaba and Ikpanam road flood and other disasters have received provided relief assistance amounting to N2.1 million from Delta state government.

   Presenting the relief assistance to the victims, Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Barr. Ernest Ogwezzy, said the gesture was not in any way to compensate the victims for loss suffered, as it was a way of identifying with the victims and cushioning the effect of the various disasters.
   In her remarks, Director, State Emergency Management Agency, Gladys Puegreen, expressed optimism that the assistance would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the victims.
   Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Onyekachi Bernard, appreciated the Governor, the commissioner and the state emergency agency for the relief assistance, describing their response as apt.
