Edo state to develop security network against herdsmen attack

A security committee will soon be set up in Edo state to develop security network to provide adequate security in rural communities and effectively tackle herdsmen attack of farmers in the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Philip Shiabu, made this known in Elele during a condolence visit to the family where a pregnant woman was recently slain in her farm by suspected herdsmen.
He also called on local communities to be very vigilant and report strange persons to security agencies, while urging community leaders to fish out local collaborators of such shameful acts for improved security.
He added that vigilante groups will be reactivated to effectively police farming communities.
