NIHSA says there would be flooding in Rivers, Delta, Edo, Anambra, Imo, Ogun, Osun, Cross River, Yobe, Niger, Imo, Benue and other states

Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NIHSA, says there would be flooding in Rivers, Delta, Edo, Anambra, Imo, Ogun, Osun, Cross River, Yobe, Niger, Imo, Benue and other states and has urged those living in flood-prone areas to relocate upland or safer locations.

Director-General of NIHSA, Moses Beckley, stated this in Abuja at the presentation of this year’s Annual Flood Outlook by the agency, explaining that most cities are expected to experience severe flooding this year due to rise in sea level and tidal surge.
Stating that the floods would spread to many local government areas, he called on governments at all levels to ensure early preparation, which includes construction of more dams and drainage systems to curtail excess water as the rains set in.
