Bayelsa state controls grazing in designated areas of the state

In a bid to promote peaceful coexistence between herdsmen and farmers, mounting of “No Grazing” signposts in designated farm areas in Yenagoa and its environs, has commenced in Bayelsa state.

The conspicuously signs were fixed in farm areas by the Centre for Niger Delta Studies, in conjunction with the Bayelsa State Conflict Management Alliance to prevent herdsmen from grazing in such areas and in the process destroy the crops of local farmers.
Director of Centre for Niger Delta Studies, Dr. Sunday Abaraye, who is also the convener of the awareness campaign, said that the exercise was aimed at encouraging herdsmen to relocate to the state government approved Bayelsa Palm Estate for grazing.
According to him, plans are in place to take the exercise to rural communities in all the local government areas of the state after the state capital.
