Officials
of nine Nigeria Professional Football League clubs has met with banking and
legal advisers ahead of being on the capital market list .
According
to reports, Eight of the clubs were nominated for listing in the capital market
at the Annual General Meeting of the League Management Company in a bid to
change the face of domestic football in the country.
The
clubs are Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Enugu Rangers, El-Kanemi Warriors, MFM, Wikki
Tourists, Shooting Stars and Gombe United. Abia Warriors elected to be part of
the pilot scheme.
Chief
Executive Officer of the LMC, Nduka Irabor, urged the club representatives to
take full advantage of the development to turn the fortunes of their teams
around.
Irabor
said the league had grown over the years from having about 2,000 fans at
stadiums during games to over 25,000 at some match venues.
Earlier,
the MD of National Association Of Securities Dealers, Bola Ajomale, advised the
clubs to be ready to follow the template for them to be listed.
