Rangers International FC of Enugu have crashed out of 2016-2017 CAF competition after a 3-0 defeat in Zambia against Zesco United in the play-off Round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Flying Antelope were officially bundled out after a 5-2 aggregate loss having played 2-2 in the first leg encounter in Enugu.
According to reports with the win Zesco, have qualified for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Nigeria Professional Football League champions threw away a 2-goal lead in Enugu in the first leg as the Zambia side levelled score.
Rangers who arrived Zambia late for the encounter following a protest for unpaid match allowance started the game on the back foot and were held bound by Ching’andu who scored two goals in the first half in the 25th and 38th minutes.
In a related development, Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland defeated AC Leopards of Congo 4-2 and 4-3 aggregate win, while Mouloudia Alger of Algeria recorded a 4-1 aggregate win over Young Africans of Tanzania.
